1. Web Dialer Features | |
Contents |
[edit] 1 Introduction
You can customise your OUTBOUND call experience to your "taste" by defining a list of your dialing and network preferences in the Web Dialer.
With the Web Dialer you can:
- set up your own dialing preferences (like short cuts and international dialling formats).
- take advantage of the prices available with other VoIP providers.
- communicate with the people on non-standard phone networks.
- use someone else's Web Dialer configurations.
The web dialer sits between the number you dialed and the remote telephone, performing AUTOMATIC selection of phone numbers, dialing preferences and network preferences for you.
If you do NOT supply your own dialing and network preferences, the Web Dialer will make phone calls to traditional phones (landline, mobile) and VoIP phones using default preferences.
[edit] 2 Web Dialer Replacement
You can avoid doing any configuration by using someone else's Web Dialer!
For example, in a business where the IT staff will configure a single Web Dailer with a centralised set of phone number short cuts for all staff and branch office extensions.
By replacing your own Web Dialer with someone else's, no configuration is required from you, and all your outbound phone calls will take advantage of THEIR Web Dialer configurations automatically.
Both parties, the one offering one's Web Dialer (the Supplier) and the one using someone else's Web Dialer (the Consumer), MUST first approve the replacement process before it can occur. Either party can stop the replacement at any time.
As long as (1) they allow you to use their dialer configuration AND (2) you agree to use their dialer configuration, you can use all their dialing preferences, network preferences and network numbers.
[edit] 2.1 Web Dialer Supplier
People who want to share their Web Dialers with others (the supplier) have to INSERT the 1CC Numbers of all the people they allow to use their Web Dialer into their Central Authorisation settings:
- Central Security -> Central Authorisation -> Individual Permission
By updating the Individual Permission of those 1CC Numbers by ticking the "Share My Web Dialer" box.
[edit] 2.2 Web Dialer Consumer
People who want to use others Web Dialers (the consumer) have to INSERT the 1CC Numbers of all the people who offer Web Dialers to them into their Central Authorisation Settings:
- Central Security -> Central Authorisation -> Individual Permission
By updating the Individual Permission of those 1CC Numbers by ticking the "Use External Web Dialer" box. After that, the Web Dialer of the newly added 1CC Number will then be available for selection in the Web Dialer page.
[edit] 2.3 Replacement Screen Shot
On the top of the Web Dialer page (available after you have logged into http://net2max.com), you can see a list of available Web Dialers.
At the beginning there is only one Web Dialer (your own), as you add more Web Dialers using Central Authorisation the list will get longer and longer.
[edit] 3 Doing It Yourself
In many cases you will want more power and flexibility than what the default configuartion or someone else's configuration can give you.
There are 3 major parts (dialing preferences, network preferences and network numbers) in a Web Dialer configuration. You simply need to go through the existing configuration of each part and modify them to your needs.
It is just a very quick process to set up your own Web Dialer! You will be doing what normally takes your phone company days to do - in minutes!
[edit] 4 Dialing Preferences
[edit] 4.1 Dialing Format
The first thing to decide is what dialling format you are going to use.
- International Dialing Format
- Local Dialing Format
International Format
International Format means you ALWAYS specify the country code and area code in front of the phone number. For example, 61290112121 for a land line phone number in Sydney, Australia and 61410311000 for a mobile phone number in Australia.
International Format is the DEFAULT and PREFERRED way of dialling phone numbers since it is independent of where you are and has maximum compatibility across different phone networks.
Local Format
Local Format means you dial just like you are using a normal phone in a city of your choice. For example, if the city of your choice is Sydney then you dial just like you are in Sydney. You dial 90112121 to reach a phone number 90112121 in Sydney (Australia). You dial 0390139300 to reach a number in Melbourne (Australia). You dial 001185236786777 to reach a number overseas (in Hong Kong).
| Call Destination | International Format | Local Format |
|---|---|---|
| Local | 61290112121 | 90112121 |
| National | 61390139300 | 0390139300 |
| Overseas | 85236786777 | 001185236786777 |
Preferred Dialing Format: International Dial Format Local Dial Format Define local setting
Click on "Feature Introduction" above to get a description of this feature.
You should really use the International Dial Format in most cases, since it gives the maximum amount of flexibility wherever you are in the world.
But if you really wanted to, then you can change your dialing to match the current dialing method you are used to locally.
To change to Local Dial Format simply select "Local Dial Format" bullet then click on the "Change Dialing Method " button. Then click on "Define Local Settings" button, another window will pop up (you might have to look for it on your desktop).
Now enter the country code, area code, IDD prefix and STD prefix. After that click "Submit" button.
| International Format Settings | Local Format Settings |
|---|---|
| not required | Country Code = 61 Area Code = 2 IDD prefix = 0011 STD prefix = 0 |
[edit] 4.2 Internet Phones
Make sure you check that the Local Dial Format is select before you finish.
You can change back to the recommended International Dial Format at anytime by selecting it and then click "Change Dialing Method" button.
Internet phone numbers on the Net2MAX platform are all under the country code of 899 and with the format 899xxxyyyyyy. The first 3 digits after 899 is always the network number number (xxx) and the digits after the network number (yyyyyy) is the number of a specific phone on that network.
| Call Destination | International Format | Local Format |
|---|---|---|
| Network 060 | 89906090112121 | 001189906090112121 |
| Network 123 | 89912390112121 | 001189912390112121 |
| Network 456 | 89906090112121 | 001189945690112121 |
Net2MAX Members can define their own network numbers for the phone networks they want to dial to using the Web Dialer. Member's personal network numbers CANNOT contain any zeros (0).
Although Net2MAX encourages you to use your own networks, the above 6 Short Cuts allows you to access the 6 basic networks that are available to all Net2MAX members so you can start calling immediately.
| Network | Number | Billing Type | Caller ID | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | 012 | Per Minute | Yes | Optionally shows your Caller ID to Callee |
| Backup | 013 | Per Minute | No | Reasonable Quality and Price for Backup |
| Business | 015 | Per Second | No | Good for Short calls |
| Quality | 016 | Per Minute | No | Best Quality |
| Special | 017 | Per Minute | No | Best Price |
| Default | 019 | Per Minute | No | Balance between Quality and Price |
The above table is just a general guideline. Those 6 networks have different call quality and prices depending on country. Contact your local Net2MAX Community or Net2MAX Centre for more details.
For example, variations in Australia:
- Besides the 015 network, calls to Australian Mobiles are charged "Per Second" on 017 and 019 networks as well.
- 017 network and 019 network has flat (untimed) call rate to major Australian cities.
- Showing your Caller ID using 012 network might not work on some overseas (non-Australian) networks.
[edit] 5 Short Cuts
Short Cuts simplify the phone numbers you have to dial by allowing you to define short cut replacement of long phone numbers.
To define your Short Cuts within Web Dialer, simply fill the required Name, Short Cut and the actual Phone Number you want to dial, into the 3 input boxes, for example:
- Name: John
- Short Cut: 8
- Phone Number: 11
Now you can just dial the Short Cut digit "8" on your phone then it will be replaced with "11" and the Phone Number with digits "11" of "John" will be dialed for you instead.
[edit] 5.1 Replacement Method
Web Dialer allows you to REPLACE the short cut you entered with another phone number in two ways:
- FULLY replace the short cut
ALL the digits in the number you entered are completely replaced with a new set of digits.
For example, you can define "short cuts" for your frequently called numbers (like if you define 8 to be replaced fully by 11, then whenever you dial 8 it will be replaced by 11 and 11 will be dialed).
- PARTIALLY replace the short cut
ONLY the first few digits of the number you entered are replaced with a new set of digits.
For example, you can define "prefix digits"to indicate which network you want to use. For example, if you define 8 to be replaced partially by 12, then whenever you dial 86789 it will be replaced by 126789 and 126789 will be dialed instead.
On your Web Dialer page, you will see something like this under the Short Cuts section:
- The above diagram shows 2 Short Cuts, one short cut to replace 8 with 11 using FULL REPLACEMENT and one short cut to replace 8 with PARTIAL REPLACEMENT.
- The * character behind the digit in the "Short Cut" box indicates to Web Dialer that you want a PARTIAL replacement (instead of FULL replacement).
[edit] 5.2 Similar Short Cuts
You can define the SAME digits for both FULL and PARTIAL replacement. Net2MAX will intelligently handle both at the same time. For example, the digit 8 is used for both full and partial replacement:
|
|
[edit] 5.3 Alphabet Short Cuts
Note that you can use alphanumeric characters in the Phone Number field, this is for those networks who has NON-NUMERIC phone number. For example, if you want to call your friend on the Skype phone network and his Skype Name is a name like "tonybush" rather than a number like "123" :
- Name: Tony
- Short Cut: 7
- Phone Number: 899099tonybush
Now, you can just dial the Short Cut digits "7" and the full Phone Number "899099tonybush" of "Tony" will be dialed for you. The "899099" in front of "tonybush" tells Web Dialer to send the phone call to the user "tonybush" on the Skype network.
[edit] 5.4 Maintaining Short Cuts
You can update or delete a specific short cut by clicking the "Update" or "Delete" buttons following it.
[edit] 5.5 Sorting Short Cuts
You can sort all your Short Cuts in the order of any of the 3 columns (Name, Short Cut, Phone Number) by simply clicking on the "Sort By" words above each column.
As shown in the diagram above, the column being sorted will have its title underlined.
This will allow you to view your short cuts to discover patterns or to locate the required short cut quickly.
[edit] 5.6 Short Cut Usage Example
Short Cuts can be used in a large number of ways to save you both time and money.
Full Replacement
Full replacement gives you a one to one replacement of your short cut with a phone number.
- Short Cut will save you a lot of key strokes by replacing any long phone numbers you have with a shorter equivalent.
- You have a central point to store all your short cuts (like phone numbers of friends and family) so those phone numbers are available to you at any time - independent of the phone you are using.
- You are working in a large company with already established "extension" numbers. Short Cuts can map to those existing extension numbers seamlessly when the phone system is changed over from traditional phones to VoIP phones.
| Name | Short Cut | Phone Number |
|---|---|---|
| John | 03 | 61410311000 |
| Mary | 08 | 89906012345678 |
Partial Replacement
Partial replacement only replaces the first few digits of the phone number you entered.
As the number of telephone services providers (telephone networks) increases everyday, you will NOT get the BEST price performance from one network.
With the Short Cuts you can define which telephone network to use at the time of the call, this can be because of:
- lower price to a certain country from a particular network
- high quality to a certain country from a particular network
- extra feature (shows your caller id number) from a particular network
| Name | Short Cut | Phone Number |
|---|---|---|
| Telco B | 07* | 899123 |
| Telco A | 08* | 899456 |
In this example, Telco B (with network number 123) will hide your Caller ID from the callee and Telco A (with network number 123) will show your Caller ID to the callee.
If you want hide your Caller ID to the phone number 61290112121, you dial 0761290112121 and it will be replaced with 89912390112121. If you want to show your Caller ID to phone number 61290112121, you dial 0861290112121 and it will be replaced with 89945661290112121.
[edit] 5.7 Default Short Cuts
By default the following Short Cuts have already been defined for you, so you don't have to define them. If you do NOT like those short cuts you can always OVERRIDE them with your own short cuts.
| Name | Short Cut | Phone Number |
|---|---|---|
| Premium | 012* | 899012 |
| Backup | 013* | 899013 |
| Business | 015* | 899015 |
| Quality | 016* | 899016 |
| Special | 017* | 899017 |
| Default | 019* | 899019 |
[edit] 6 Phone Networks
[edit] 6.1 VoIP Network Selection
The VoIP Selection allows you to SELECT a VoIP network of your choice to make a certain call for you:
- Select network of the CALLEE networks
ALL the digits in the number you entered are completely replaced with a new set of digits.
For example, you can define "short cuts" for your frequently called numbers (like if you define 8 to be replaced fully by 11, then whenever you dial 8 it will be replaced by 11 and 11 will be dialed).
- Select Networks with Your OWN Account
If you have defined Your Phone Account then you can use those accounts to make calls on the networks you have those accounrs on.
For example, you can define "456" to indicate which network you want to use. For example, if you define 8 to be replaced partially by 12, then whenever you dial 86789 it will be replaced by 126789 and 126789 will be dialed instead.
On your Web Dialer page, you will see something like this under the VoIP Selection section:
Network Number Callee's Network Address Your Account's Network
Network Number must be exactly 3 digits and must NOT contain a 0.
Network Number Conversion lets you talk to people on other Internet Phone (VoIP) networks, more details HERE
To define a Network Number simply click on "Define Network Number" button, another window will pop up (you might have to look for it on your desktop).
Now enter the Network Number you would like to represent your Network Address. The Network Number MUST NOT have a 0 (zero) in it and it MUST BE 3 digits in length.
Then enter the Network Address. This is the later part of the address BEHIND the @ sign in a Internet Phone Address.
Example: Network Number: 123 Network Address: sip.abc.com
Now, if you dial Internet Phone Number 899123777777 then the full Internet Phone Address 777777@sip.abc.com will be dialed for you.
The Network Number is ALWAYS the 3 digits AFTER 899.
You can add more Network Numbers in the pop up window, or you can close it when you have finished adding the Network Numbers.
To Delete or Change a Network Number definitions, just tick the box in front and then click either the "Delete Network Number" button or the "Change Network Number" button.

[b]More Network Numbers for Web Dialler[/b]
The following 2 new Network Numbers (094 and 098) will work with all Web Dialler compatible functions like calling from your Internet Phone, from Web PABX, from Access Numbers etc.
094
For maximum flexibility, performance and compatibility you should define your own network numbers under "Network Number Conversion" in Web Dialler.
However, if you do not want to define your own, you can now use SIP Broker's definitions.
Details here: http://en.net2max.com/Web_Dialer_Usage#094_SIP_Broker
098
For maximum range (esp. to phones behind NATs) you should call another Internet phone through their VoIP provider (for example, via their SIP address).
However, if you want to by-pass the VoIP providers, you can now call Internet phones directly by specifying their IP addresses.
Details here: http://en.net2max.com/Web_Dialer_Usage#098_SIP_IP_Address
[b]Web Dialer is the World's First Web Based Phone Dialer (year 2000), it is also the World's First Cross-Network Numbering Dialer (year 2005)[/b]
Today it achieves yet another World's First - the World's First Sharable Phone Dialer.
1. Introduction
You can now make use of other Net2MAX Member's Web Dialer settings!
This is especially useful for groups of people (like staff within a businesses) working together. For example, one single person can maintain:
* a central list of Quick Dial numbers (like extensions for each staff's phone numbers) * a standard Dial Format (like using same country and area code for Local Format) * a central list of Network Numbers (for dialing different external VoIP networks) * a central list of VoIP providers (for using different VoIP providers for the best combination of phone quality and rates)
Everytime something changes, everyone who shares the same Web Dialer will get the new settings immediately without doing anything!
2. Initial Set Up
Both parties, the one sharing and the one using MUST approve the sharing process. Either party can stop the sharing at any time. Sharing
People who want to share their Web Dialers have to INSERT the Account Number (OZnumber) of all the people they allow to use their Web Dialer into their own access table
Manage -> Security Manager -> Central Authorisation -> Individual Permission
Then they have to update the Individual Permission of those Account Numbers by ticking the "Share My Web Dialer" box.
Using
People who want to use others Web Dialers have to INSERT the Account Number (OZnumber) of all the people who offer Web Dialers to them into their own access table
Manage -> Security Manager -> Central Authorisation -> Individual Permission
Then they have to update the Individual Permission of those Account Numbers by ticking the "Use External Web Dialer" box. The newly added External Web Dialer will then be available for selection in the Web Dialer page.
[b]Flexible Caller ID Display Enabled[/b]
Previously, when making outbound calls you can only set your caller id to be hidden or one of your Local Numbers.
Now (through your Web Dialer page) you can also set the caller id you display (to the phone you called) to be any phone number you owned (like your mobile number or your land line number).
Usage
You MUST verify that you really own the phone number you wanted to display by performing the Verification Process, BEFORE your phone number will be available for selection in the drop down box on the Web Dialer page.
Note: display of your caller id to the phones you called is only available if you have selected premium rate (either permanently in your web dialer for all calls to your predefined destinations or in real time by adding the premium prefix for specific calls that you want to display your caller id).
[b]Automatic Web Dialler Selection[/b]
Introduction
In addition to the single Web Dialler sharing feature announced in the World's First Shareable Web Dialler released earlier this year, you can now alternatively share Multiple Web Diallers AT THE SAME TIME.
Besides selecting only ONE external Web Dialler to take over ALL the outbound dialling intelligence for your calls. You can now specify which external Web Dialler to be used for what types of calls - for example a call for internal staff might use a different Web Dialler to a call for your family.
With this method, there is no need to manually swap between different Web Diallers any more, Net2MAX will AUTOMATICALLY pick the right Web Dialler for you depending on the phone number you are calling.
Usage
You must first be granted access to some external Web Diallers.
All the Web Diallers that you have access to will be listed under the "Network Preferences" section on the "Web Dialer" page, along with what dialling format those Web Diallers are supporting (either Local or International).
You can now define which of those external Web Diallers to use for which outbound phone number.
NOTE: You can ONLY pick a Web Dialler that has a dialling format that matches your own (whether Local or International). Our recommendation is to use the International Dialling Format for everything.
This feature is ONLY available if you login to http://net2max.com (it will NOT be available on http://oztralia.com)
