4 Mount using CIFS (SMB)

5 Mount using WebDAV (Web Folders)

WebDAV stands for Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning. "Web Folders" is Microsoft's way of calling its WebDAV feature.

For users who are unable to access Windows SMB disk mounts due to firewall or proxy, the solution is to use WebDAV.

WebDAV performs disk sharing over HTTP (port 80) or HTTPS (port 443), so can pass through most firewalls.

A Remote Drive running WebDAV gives you the similar features as a normal disk drive:

  1. Drag and Drop folders or files between your computer (or other storage media attached to your computer) and the remote drive.
  2. Read and Save to your Remote Drive from within applications, such as Microsoft Word.

5.1 Windows XP

There are 2 ways of using WebDAV on Windows XP - "Mapped Drive" or "My Network Places". Mapping as a drive is the preferred way.
