1. Net2MAX Communities Features | |
Contents |
1 Joining a Community
Each member can only belong to one community and one time. Although members can change between communities at any time.
Members can join a community by simply specifying the Community Number and Community Password of their preferred community in the Community fields on their "Member Details" page.
In some cases the Community Password is empty, that means anyone is welcome to join that Community using that Community Number.
Community 10 or 100 prices apply automatically to ALL members within a community when the number of active members within a community equal or exceed 10 or 100.
Community 1000 prices require special approval by Net2MAX Partners.
Whether a member belongs to a community is determined once a month during the charging of the monthly fee.
2 Starting a Community
Any member can start a new community instantly, they simply need to put their OWN 1CC Number into the Community Number field on their own "Member Details" page.
The member also need to set a Community Password which she discloses ONLY to those people who she allows in joining her commuity. If the Community Password is empty then anhyone can join.
Once a Community has been started, any other member can put that member's 1CC Number into their Community fields, they will then be part of that community.
3 Community Device Configuration
Net2MAX operates on a large number of computing platforms using cross-device technologies like the web and java, but in some cases device specific technologies will provide much higher levels of functionality and ease of use.
Thanks to Net2MAX's standards based technologies any standards complient software on any device (from mobile phones to PDAs to PCs to MACs to Linux to Unix) will work transparently with each other.
Net2MAX allows the best of both worlds by providing a public interface and a member interface.
Net2MAX is a community based platform and it is expected that different communities will have their own software and configurations on their own computers.
3.1 Best In Class
The software included in the CCC must be the "best" in its class for the operating system it is targeting (subject the other requirements listed here).
"Best" is measured by how well they performed in the following areas:
- Functionality
- Stability
- Ease of Use
If you do NOT agree that the software currently in the CCC is the "best" as defined above, you are welcome to submit the replacement software which you believe is the "best" to Net2MAX Limited. It will be evaluated and if the result between your software and existing software is close - it will be put up to a vote by member to decide which software to go into the CCC.
3.2 Alternative Software
In order to avoid confusion only one CCC is allowed per operating system (e.g. Windows_XP_English for all English version of Microsoft 32-bit Windows XP).
However, since Net2MAX uses standard based protocols, a large number of alternative software can exist under each operating system that will perform the same job as those inside already inside the CCC.
Some of those software (either free or paid) might work better that the software in the CCC for you. In those cases, you might prefer to use alternative software. You can change whatever portion you don't like once CCC has been set up on your computer or even choose to not have CCC installed at all.
3.3 Freeware Only
For security and enhancement potential, it is strongly recommended that ALL software within a CCC be Open Sourced and FREE to use by any use.
If the software is NOT open sourced or it is NOT free for any use, then it MUST at least be FREE for personal non-commerical use. It is highly preferrable that it is free for other uses as well but it is not a requirement. It is up to the individual member to decide whether to use a specific CCC based on components within it.
3.4 No Malware
The Net2MAX Community should perform malware (virus, spyware, adware etc.) scans using at least 2 up-to-date virus and spyware scanners from different sources BEFORE submitting any software for inclusion in a CCC.
Another important thing is to monitor that software through search engines and support forums to see whether there is even a hint of bad report. In order to give reviewers and testers time to go through the software, you should wait at least a minimum of 90 days before submitting a newly released software. In general, the longer history and the more users a software has the safer it is.
3.5 Live Testing
Unless for urgent bugs fixes, software submitted to the CCC should been running WELL within a community for at least 30 days on 2 machines under live situations using Net2MAX servers without crashing itself or any other software.
3.6 Constant Improvement
It is up to the community to update the CCC with new stable versions of the software inside a CCC as they see fit (but no more frequent than once a month - unless its a security update then it should be done immediately).
As a back up, Net2MAX Limited will also perform version checks and refreshes on all software within CCCs - independent of the community - at least once a year.
3.7 Net2MAX Checking
Net2MAX Limited reserves the right to perform tests on and reject any software before or after including it into a specific CCC.
4 Commerical Communities
The number and types of online services are increasing everyday, mainly due to
- Rapid development in new communication technologies
- Decreasing costs in becoming a communication service provider
- New marketing schemes that keep evolving
- Continue deregulation by government
- Increasing application types and possibilities
The best way of beating the competiton is to create superior services based on combining your unique strengths with someone's strength.
4.1 What is Competition
The concept of Net2MAX is to "work with" and not "work against" other online services. Since Net2MAX is the first and currently only Management Services platform in the world, there is really no "direct competition" at the management level] as such.
However, there will be online services that either refuse or not able to be managed (integrate, customise, automate) by Net2MAX. These existing and future online services that are not compatible with Personal Networks are "indirect competition" to Net2MAX.
In the short term, Net2MAX Partners are expected to take market share away from incompatible communication based services (like First Generation and Second Generation networks that cannot be managed).
In the long term, Net2MAX Partners are expected to take market share away from incompatible non-communication based services (like gaming, e-commerce, payment, industry specific services that cannot be managed).
4.2 Beating Competition
The communication market is highly competitive, there is not much difference between offerings of different communication providers.
Net2MAX provides a way of creating substantial and long term differentiation by providing interaction services in addition to communication services to the customers.
Please Click HERE for a description of the differences between Communication and Interaction services.
The communication business is about providing MULITPLE tools to customers so they can MOVE information from point A to point B in different ways.
The interaction business is about providing ONE tool to customers so they can MANAGE different communication services.
Through Net2MAX management, customers can MERGE communication seamlessly into their INDIVIDUAL life styles. Enriching their communicate experiences.
More details on how centralised managment of communcations can expand reach, incresing power and reducing costs for customers are is available by Clicking HERE.
1.2 Increasing Revenue
Net2MAX allows communication providers to increase their revenue by MERGING their communication offerings into the much bigger Information Technology market through layering Net2MAX platform on top of your existing communication networks.
Providing "Interaction Service" does not mean replacing communication services, it means generating NEW revenue streams by providing NEW value to customers. New value that the customer is willing to paid EXTRA for.
1.3 Combining Networks
With a single universal NUMBER that can work across all networks, your company can expand into the Information Technology markets with an unified platform with Phone, Fax, SMS, Web, WAP, iMode, Email, ICQ, MSN, Video Conferencing etc. all rolled into one.
Your customers can use the single NUMBER to send and receive communication from different networks, there is no need to maintain a large number of different phone numbers and internet addresses.
Net2MAX Platform links all your existing communication networks together, as well as linking the communication networks of other telcos and ISPs together. Customers of the other networks indirectly become your customers.

6 Introduction
Why do you want to USE Skype when you can BE Skype ?
Yes, instantly, right now. You can give out your phone software so other people can download and call each other for free.
Having said the above however, Skype does have a substantial first move advantage in the computer to computer phone call space and has a large customer base, so it should not dismissed but rather (following the philosophy of Personal Networks) to be complemented.
Like a lot of other VoIP providers, Skype is a second generation network but unlike them Skype is NOT based on standards (like SIP, H323 or IAX) so the Net2MAX platform does not work as well with Skype but it does still work with it.
Interestingly Skype's single brand approach is

9 One Click Contact
Net2MAX Services are normally created separately by Net2MAX Communities according to their local operating conditions. Members subscribe to different services through different communities depending on their specific needs.
However, there is a common introductory service, One Click Contact (1CC), which is available directly from Net2MAX Limited (during free trial period) and Net2MAX Partners (after the free trial period).
1CC s like a Personal Communication Centre for individuals. It was created to demonstrate how easy it is to integrate and automate different communication services using the Net2MAX Platform.
10 Awards
10.1 Working Together
Net2MAX members comes from a large number of different countries, using different services on different applications. Yet, they all use the same Net2MAX Functions on the same core infrastructure.
Any contributions by the public, member or partner in improving the documentation, operation and application will flow around the worldwide community. Net2MAX has been benefiting from this powerful community based phenomenon for years through the Net2MAX Forum.
We are hoping to expanding this community spirit from the forum to other parts of our operations (like this encyclopedia).
[THIS IS DRAFT ONLY - FEEDBACK REQUIRED - CLICK ON "discussion" ABOVE]
In order to formally acknowledge those kind and generous people who have helped others, there will be 6 awards each year from 2007 onwards:
- Member for Making Most Improvement to Net2MAX Documentation
- Member for Making Most Improvement to Net2MAX Operation
- Member for Making Best Use of Net2MAX Platform
- Community for Making Most Improvement to Net2MAX Documentation
- Community for Making Most Improvement to Net2MAX Operation
- Community for Making Best Use of Net2MAX Platform
Each active Net2MAX member worldwide has one vote for EACH award. The member and commuity who received the most votes in each award will win that award. Net2MAX Limted, public and partners are NOT allowed to vote.
It is unlikely for one entity to win more than 1 award. If that occurs that entity will be given a super award and the next entities behind in votes will be given the awards instead.
We do NOT want to destory the friendly feel of the contributions we are having on the Net2MAX Forum, so there should not be campaiging for votes. Members should just do what they would have done even if there is NO award. Awards are there to acknowledge and not to encourage.
While contributions should focus on this web site and on the official Net2MAX Forum, these awards covers contributions everywhere (on other web sites, on other forums etc.). It is up to fellow members to decide on who made the most contribution.
SOME PROBLEMS TO BE RESOLVED:
- We are still designing the actual award as we do not want it to be just a piece of paper - it should be something that is special. We have an open mind and do not mind custom making something. Any ideas please send to management@net2max.com (we want to keep this as a surprise every year).
- For people who received a lot of votes BUT did not get the award (say second place). We are thinking of MAY BE mixing them all into a pool and be given separate awards to recognise their contribution?
- What nomination process should be used? A reference or a link to the relevant contribution should be included.
- How about people who have contirbuted in the past ?
- How about people using different languages?
