1 3-Step Migration
To migrate from a Net2MAX 1.0 service to Net2MAX 2.0's One Click Contact (1CC) platform, you have to follow 3 steps:
STEP 1: Set up a Registered Number
- Login to http://net2max.com and go to
Security -> Central Security -> Internal Security -> Registered Number - Every 1CC account must be associated with a Registered Number. The Registered Number can be
EITHER one of your Verified Phone Numbers that does not belong to Net2MAX network
OR you can use a Child Registered Number of an existing member's Registered Number.
NEW: It can now also be a verified credit card number. - If you want to use a Verified Phone Number as your Registered Number BUT do NOT have a Verified Phone Number (either origination or destination number) then you can verify a phone number of yours BEFORE accessing this page again.
- If you want to use someone else's Child Registered Number as your Registered Number then you MUST obtain both a Child Registered Number and its associated password from them.
- If you want to use a credit card number as your Registered Number, please go to
Commerce -> Transit Account -> Payment Transaction
Under the heading "Credit Card Details", click on the button "Register", then follow the on screen instructions to verify your credit card number.
Note: If you have clicked on the "Register", but do not go through with the verification, the instructions will always remain visible.
STEP 2: Migrate to 1CC Platform
- Login to http://net2max.com and go to
Commerce -> Transit Account -> Service Information -> Migrate to 1CC Service - Once you have migrated over to the 1CC platform you CANNOT migrate back.
STEP 3: Change your 1CC Number (OPTIONAL but highly recommended)
- Login to http://net2max.com and go to
Security -> Central Security -> Internal Security -> Change 1CC Number - If you do NOT want your 1CC Number to be the SAME as your registered number then now is the BEST time to change it - before you have done anything with the 1CC Number (that is the same as your Registered Number).

3 Overview
After years of development, Net2MAX 2.0 is finally ready! From 01-May-2007, we will release a new Net2MAX Service called One Click Contact (1CC) based on the new 2.0 platform.
More information on 1CC has been progressively made available from 01-May-2007 so you can decide whether you want to move over to 1CC on or after 01-Jul-2007, but in the meantime, it is important for you to know that your existing service will CONTINUE, at least until 1-Jan-2008 (if not longer). Until then, moving to 1CC is entirely optional.
However, since all existing Net2MAX 1.0 services will run on the Net2MAX 2.0 platform under emulation mode from 01-Jul-2007 onwards, some topics in this migration guide MAY affect you whether you are moving over to 1CC or not.
3.1 Single Application
From 01-Aug-2007, OZtell will only be offering ONE single Net2MAX application to new customers - One Click Contact (1CC).
As an existing customer, you can choose to stay with your current Basic, Universal, Integrated, Gold, Silver, Bronze services, but you will NOT be able to change between these old services anymore. You can however change to the new 1CC from or after 01-Jul-2007.
From 01-Jul-2007 you will not be allowed to subscribe/unsubscribe functions. So if you login to http://www.oztralia.com, and go to www.oztralia.com -> Manage -> Maintain Functions, you will see what you have but will be unable to change them.
Unlike old services, new 1CC pricing system is NOT based on the number of Net2MAX Functions you subscribe to. 1CC gives you all functions for a single monthly fee, which will be calculated according to your monthly usage of the available functions.
So with 1CC, there is NO need to subscribe to individual functions.
3.2 Increased Identification
Net2MAX 2.0 supports anonymous public access to certain services and protection of member identity but it does not allow members to be anonymous to the platform itself. We will be identifying all anonymous members on our system. During the first half of 2007 (Jan-Jun), you have to re-verify yourself and any Verified Phone Numbers you have to the Net2MAX system.
Like with Net2MAX 1.0 your IP addresses are logged when you interact with Net2MAX, so you can lock yourself down to a certain IP address to prevent theft of your identity by someone with a different IP address.
Net2MAX 2.0 increases our ability to log IP addresses at a deeper level by running a java applet on member login - so Java must be turned on for the site www.net2max.com in your browser.
3.3 Increased Privacy
Net2MAX prevents direct access to the member by filtering out all the different voice, text and image communications from the public to the 1CC Number and pass the proper communications to the member's private Account Number.
Besides performing the filtering task, Net2MAX also protects you by allowing you to either change or not change your WHOLE public indentity at any time you wish.
You can keep your 1CC Number unchanged for life (so people do NOT have to learn new phone numbers or email addresses as you change your service providers).
You can change your 1CC Number within a few minutes (so you can change your identity as circumstances changes WITHOUT changing your service providers).
Your Net2MAX 1.0 OZnumber is now called the "Account Number" and your Net2MAX 1.0 Alias is now called the "1CC Number".
- Your 1CC Number is for you to give out to others so they can contact you.
- Your Account Number is for you to keep private to yourself so only Net2MAX can contact you.
3.4 Complete Platform
Although Net2MAX technologies have been available to advanced Nextgen Telcos and Communication Consultants for years (they have been delivering superior solutions to their customers based on individual Net2MAX components), those technologies were never available as a complete platform. Net2MAX 2.0 delivers those technologies as a complete platform for the first time.
Instead of offering large numbers of different communication tools and components, Net2MAX Limited will focus on delivery ONLY this single platform as a whole from 2007 onwards.
With Net2MAX 2.0's single platform approach, normal user communities will be able to design and deploy their own Net2MAX services based on the complete platform - just like Nextgen Telcos - but at much low costs and in much shorter timeframes.
3.5 Simple Relationship
Unlike Net2MAX 1.0 deployments (which are available under different brands as widely different online services with different prices from large numbers of different providers), Net2MAX 2.0 is available only through Net2MAX Communities with the support of the Net2MAX Centre in each country.
Net2MAX Communities combines all the different distribution schemes in Net2MAX 1.0 (Partners, Whoelsalers, Resellers, Developers etc.) into a single worldwide distribution and support scheme.
Net2MAX 2.0 has:
- A single core set of Net2MAX 2.0 pricing for each country.
- A single core set of Net2MAX 2.0 service for each country.
From 2007, Net2MAX will focus on providing the SAME set of offerings to all Net2MAX Communities, so everyone can take advantage of any improvements made to the platform. It is now up to the Communities to customise their unique services themselves, using the same Net2MAX tools.
3.6 Resource Based Charges
With Net2MAX 2.0, 20 different monthly subscription fees are now combined into 1 single monthly subscription fee under One Click Contact.
Net2MAX 1.0 charges are based on functionality. The charges are calculated using the number of Net2MAX Functions that a member has subscribe to, basically the more things a member wants to do, the more functions a member has to subscribe to and the monthly fee is more expensive.
Net2MAX 2.0 charges are based on resources consumed. The member has access to ALL the Net2MAX Functions by paying the One Click Contact Charges. Charges now increase as the volume increases, so a business will pay more than an individual since it will take up more resources.
3.7 Verified User Operation
Net2MAX 2.0 requires all members be automatically verified by a lot of other parameters besides passwords (like location, IP address, phone number etc.). This make it more secure for both the members and the people dealing with the members. Of course the member can choose to be anonymous when dealing with the public and not disclose their identity, but they must identify themselves to Net2MAX. There are plenty of "no questions asked" platforms out there, Net2MAX is not one of them.
4 Services
4.1 Access Number
4.1.1 Verified Phone Numbers
During the first half of 2007 (Jan - Jun), you will need to ring into an Access Number to verify that ALL the phone numbers you claimed to be yours are really yours. This applies to both Verified Origination Numbers and Verified Destination Numbers.
Please visit the page on the verification process for details, but basically, you dial into an Access Number, enter 0 as the destination phone number, login and then press 5 to initiate verification.
Phone numbers that have NOT been re-verified after 1-Jan-2007, may NOT work after 1-Jul-2007.
From now on you will need to perform the same re-verification process for your verified phone numbers at least once every 6 months.
4.2 Group Calendar
Net2MAX 2.0 has a totally new icalendar based Calendar Server.
4.3 Internet Number
4.3.1 Web Phone
A new Java based version of Soft-Dial will be replaced the previous EXE version (soft-dial.exe) downloaded version from 1-May-2007.
The new version called Web Phone will allow anyone with Java to use VoIP without downloading software nor applying for an account - really one click operation.
Although there is currently no plan to disable the EXE version, it will not be supported anymore.
4.3.2 New @net2max.com domain
From 1-May-2007, the "net2max.com" domain will be used increasingly to replace the "oztralia.com" domain. However, access to the "oztralia.com" domain should still work through automatic redirection to "net2max.com".
For example, setting up your VoIP phone with "sip.oztralia.com" will still work, but you should really use "sip.syd.net2max.com" instead.
The is NO date for the shutting down of the @oztralia.com SIP and IAX domains as yet, but you should use the @net2max.com if possible.
4.4 Message Portal
4.4.1 Secret Question
When you login to the www.oztralia.com web site you have to supply your previously defined Secret Question and Answer to the system.
If you have NOT previously supplied a Secret Question and Answer then you will be asked you for some personal ID information before you can continue and supply your Secret Question and Answer. Then you will need to change your login password. The previous minimum length was 6 digits. The new minimum length password is 8 digits.
You should also change all of your other passwords (like for your SIP phone) to 8 or more digits. All passwords should be 8 or more digits from and after 1-May-2007. Although shorter passwords will still work, at least until 1-Jun-2007.
4.4.2 New net2max.com domain
From 1-May-2007, the "net2max.com" domain will be used increasingly to replace the "oztralia.com" domain. However, access to the "oztralia.com" domain should still work through automatic redirection to "net2max.com".
For example, before you will go to "www.oztralia.com" to login, now you should go to "net2max.com" instead. If you continue you go to "www.oztralia.com" you will be redirected to "net2max.com" automatically.
The is NO date for the shutting down of the oztralia.com message portal domain as yet, but all access to it will be redirected to net2max.com from June 2007 onwards.
4.5 Multimedia Email
4.5.1 New @net2max.com domain
All Net2MAX 2.0 email boxes will be under the @net2max.com domain and will be based on the 1CC number.
For example, 61290112121@net2max.com
People with Net2MAX 1.0 email box or alias with the @oztralia.com can still access them as before (using POP3, IMAP4 or the WEB).
Note @net2max.com and @oztralia.com are physically DIFFERENT email boxes, they do not map to each other. You can open up BOTH in an IMAP email client (like Outlook Express or Thunderbird) and transfer emails between them.
The is NO date for the shutting down of the @oztralia.com email domain yet, but you should transfer emails to net2max.com if possible.
4.6 Web Dialer
4.6.1 No more skipping Network Numbers behind 898 and 899
The dialing feature of Net2MAX 2.0 allows the support personally defined networks, so only full dialing numbers will be supported from 1-May-2007.
The following short-cut for direct dialing Internet Phones and Web PABXs will NO LONGER be supported:
- 898yyy where yyy is the Net2MAX Member's Account Number.
- 899yyy where yyy is the Net2MAX Member's Account Number.
- For example, yyy = 92176000
- 89892176000 (no longer supported)
- 89992176000 (no longer supported)
For direct dialing Internet Phones and Web PABXs, the following full numbers have to be used instead:
- 898xxxyyy where xxx is the Net2MAX Member's Network Number.
- 899xxxyyy where xxx is the Net2MAX Member's Network Number.
- For example, xxx = 060, yyy = 92176000
- 89806092176000 (correct)
- 89906092176000 (correct)
To reduce dialing a lot of digits, please use the Web Dialer to perform short cut dialing instead.
Skipping Network Numbers behind 898 and 899 will no longer be supported from 01-Jul-2007.
4.6.2 No more non-registered VoIP calls
In order to increase security, calls can only be made from VoIP devices (like SIP, IAX) that are actually REGISTERED when the call is being made.
Supplying authentication information (like SIP username and password) as part of the call within registration will NO LONGER supported.
Non-registered VoIP calls will no longer be supported from 01-Jul-2007.
4.6.3 No more skipping of IDD prefix with Local Dialling Format
If you have selected Local Dialling Format then you MUST put the IDD prefix you have defined BEFORE internet phone numbers (899xxx) and Web PABX numbers (898xxx).
For example, if you are on Local Format you should specify the phone number as 001189906090112121 with your defined IDD prefix 0011 instead of just 89906090112121.
Skipping IDD prefix will no longer be supported from 01-Jul-2007.
4.6.4 No more 06 prefix and 09 prefix dialling
All 3-digit dialling prefix (012, 013, 015, 016, 017, 019) have been predefined as Short Cuts to corresponding 3-digit Network Numbers, so will work as before - no change.
Very old 2-digits prefix (06 and 09) will no longer be supported from 01-Jul-2007.
4.7 Community Server
For low costs, better routes and higher redundancy, Net2MAX 2.0 supports deployment of small server clusters in Net2MAX Centres and Net2MAX Commnities worldwide. The first deployment of a light weight cluster configuration is the popular sip.syd.net2max.com (which now has a new IP address of 202.60.91.240).
Currently the old IP address of 210.80.176.12 for sip.syd.net2max.com is still working along with the new one, but that will NOT be the case from 1-May-2007 onwards. If you have hard coded that old IP address, you must change it to 202.60.91.240 as soon as possible. In fact OZtell does NOT officially support hard coded IP addresses and you should only use DNS names for all your services.

6 Limitations
This migration guide only applies to Net2MAX 1.0 users belonging to OZtell and its resellers. Majority of Net2MAX 1.0 users actually access different parts of Net2MAX 1.0 (from prepaid phone cards to video conferencing) through a wide range of services developed under their providers' OWN BRANDS - this guide does NOT covered those migrations (which are performed by our partners separately).
Information in the rest of this encyclopaedia applies to Net2MAX 2.0 only. No documentation has been nor will be developed for Net2AMX 1.0, please refer to your own service provider for 1.0 support.
