IMAP Idle
Top range mobile phones or PDAs with built-in email clients should use Group Mail's IMAP IDLE feature. IMAP IDLE will give you a push type experience without the SMS cost and less compatibility problems across different mobile networks.

Middle range mobile phones or PDAs with Java, Windows, Blackberry, Palm, Symbian can download SyncML client software into their device to use Group Mail's Push Email feature. Push Email is might not work on ALL phones and PDAs, in those cases the WAP feature (discussed below) can be used.

3 Computer Email Clients
Most email clients are supported. For example, Microsoft Outlook, Windows Mail, .
Thunderbird is the recommended client, using:
- SMTP

6 RSS Feeds
Group Email allows downloading of RSS feeds straight into the email box, each news on the feed becomes an email (with news summary and news links).
The full power of Group Email (like shared folders, WAP interface etc.) can then be used to access, store and share those news feeds.
7 Rule based Filtering
Group Email allows powerful rule based filtering and forwarding on server side (instead of on the email client).
Server based filtering allows
- Emails to be classified immediately without you logging in
- Rubbish emails are declared before they hit your email client
Using friendly point and click on the web page, the member can define different rules and conditions and see if an incoming email matches
- all of
- any of
the conditions that the member defines.
Details within an email that can to be examined:
- From
- To
- Cc
- Subject
- Size
- Header
Conditions that can be used for matching:
- is
- is not
- contains
- does not contain
- matches
- does not match
- matches regular expression
- does not match regular expression
Actions that can be performed:
- File Into different folders
- Forward to different addresses
- Send a reject message back
- Discard the message
- Send vacation message back
- Set message flag
- Keep a copy in your Inbox
- Stop processing filter rules
Since rule based filtering run on the server, beside automating actions on emails, it also saves the member bandwidth (especially valuable for mobile users).
All filtering are performed at server level at all times, whether the member is online or not.
8 SPAM Training
Universal SPAM training that works across web, wap, push, pop3, imap with simple "Drag and Drop".
Drag and drop SPAM training allows almost any email client (Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Web Mail, Mobile Devices etc.) to manage SPAM easily.
All SPAM are classified by the Contact Manager and put into the "Spam" folder automatically. In rare cases, the system will make a mistake which will require training from you so it can learn and improve:
- If you find any SPAM outside the "Spam" folder (say in your Inbox), you just drag it into the "Train-Spam" folder.
- If you find any good email (called HAM) inside the "Spam" folder, you just drag it into the "Train-Ham" folder.
The system will learn from those 2 training folders and afterwards will automatically move the HAM emails from the "Train-Ham" folder to the "Ham" folder and move the SPAM emails from the "Train-Spam" folder into the "Spam" folder.
9 Virus Blocking
All emails are scanned for virus before being delivered using frequently updated virus signatures.
