1 Public Calling In

Local Numbers are like any normal phone number in a city. The public simply ring the member's local number using any phone (landline, mobile, public phones) and they will be connected to the Net2MAX member.

If the Net2MAX Member's Local Number is in a remote city, the caller can use the Access Number instead or they can still use the Local Number in the remote city by dialing a long distance call.

For example, Net2MAX Member has a Local Number of +61 2 9217 6000 in Sydney, Australia:

  • Any caller in Sydney Australia, will dial 9217 6000 from any phone to reach the member.
  • Any caller in Australia but outside Sydney, will dial 02 9217 6000.
  • Any caller outside Australia, will dial +61 2 9217 6000.

2 Subscribing Local Numbers

Local Number features are controlled centrally by selecting "Local Number" from the "Voice" menu AFTER logging into http://www.net2max.com.

If you do NOT see "Local Number" in the "Voice" menu, then you have not subscribed to this function as yet - Simply migrate your account to 1CC

Once you are on the Local Number page, click on "Help" on the top menu bar to display detailed online help for Local Number.

3 On-Demand Local Numbers

In order to speed up the coverage of Local Phone Numbers around the world, a different type of dial-in phone numbers has been introduced in a larger number of locations than Instant Local Numbers.

This type of dial-in phone numbers is called On-Demand Local Numbers. They provide similar function as Instant Local Number but at a higher cost and less functionality.

On-Demand Local Numbers have to be applied for individually and you do not know what you will get. Also, you have to wait 2-3 weeks in order to get the number.

Like Instant Local Numbers, people can ring your Internet Phone or Web PABX by dialling your On-Demand Local Number.

There are some limitations with these numbers compared to Instant Local Numbers. They do NOT support the display of Caller Line Identification (CLI) and the fax compatibility with different fax machines on those numbers are not as good as that of for Instant Local Numbers.

4 Members Control Panel

On this web page, you can select Local Numbers from different locations around the world and specify what will happen if someone rings those Local Numbers.

You will see an extra "Fax to Email" section on this page if you have subscribed to the "Fax to Email" Function.

4.1 Instant Local Numbers

To subscribe to a new Local Number, click the "Down Arrow" to choose a phone number you like and then click the "Subscribe" button. The new phone number will be available for use immediately.

To unsubscribe to an existing Local Number, click on "Unsubscribe" at the end of the row (corresponding to the specific Local Number you wanted to unsubscribed).

4.1.1 Answering Mode

When a call comes in you can select how to handle that call. There are currently 5 selections available

1.1 Web PABX

Web PABX has A LOT of features, but basically, it can automatically transfer incoming calls to different groups of phone numbers in different order depending on who is calling and what time they call you. It has audio recording, playing, conferencing, messaging features.

1.2 Internet Phone

Internet Phone automatically transfer incoming calls to your Internet Phone Number (899...).

1.3 Fax Machine (PDF)

Fax Machine (PDF) automatically plays a fax tone and receives faxes on behalf of you. The fax is then sent to the email address you specified in PDF format.

1.4 Fax Machine (TIFF)

Fax Machine (TIFF) automatically plays a fax tone and receives faxes on behalf of you. The fax is then sent to the email address you specified in TIFF format.

1.5 Fax PABX

This answering mode is Web PABX and Fax Machine (PDF) in one, so a single instant local number can be used as a voice number as well as a fax number.

After you have selected one of the 5 answering modes, you have to click on the corresponding "Change Modes" button to activate the new answering mode.

4.1.2 Number Mode

The "Number Mode" option allows you to override the incoming "origination" phone numbers with the "destination" phone numbers, or preserve the "origination" number, but "attach" the "destination" number.

To see the Caller Line Display (CLI) on a PSTN or mobile network, you MUST call out with "Premium Rate" from Web PABX (by using the 012 prefix or from the Web Dialer). To see the CLI on an Australian mobile network, you can also use the "Default Rate".

After you have selected the "Number Mode", you have to click on the corresponding "Change Modes" button to activate it.

The "Number Mode" option is only valid for Answering Mode "Web PABX", "Fax PABX" and "Internet Phone". There are 4 modes available

Normal

This is the default mode. With this mode, incoming calls will present the original Caller Line Display (CLI) of the caller, and the Called Local Number (DNIS) will not be passed on to the Internet Phone of the callee.

e.g. Caller 61410311070 (original CLI), calls 61290112121 (DNIS), callee will see the CLI as 61410311070

Override

With this mode, incoming calls will have the CLI of the caller replaced with the Called Local Number (DNIS), before passing on to Internet Phone or Web PABX. The DNIS will not be passed on (in the DNIS field) to the Internet Phone of the callee.

e.g. Caller 61410311070 (original CLI), calls 61290112121 (DNIS), callee will see the CLI as 61290112121

This is useful for people who receive calls on their mobile phone or phones that can display Caller ID. They can see from their phones which Local Number the caller has called.

If you choose this mode, the Voice Greeting Mapping in Web PABX can only map the Caller Phone number with your Local Numbers, since the original CLIs are replaced.

Attachment

With this mode, incoming calls will present the original CLI of the caller, as well as the Called Local Number (DNIS) to the Internet Phone of the callee.

e.g. Caller 61410311070 (original CLI), calls 61290112121 (DNIS), callee will see the CLI as 61410311070, and the DNIS as 61290112121.

This mode is useful for businesses with internet phone equipment (iPABX) and a lot of different Local Numbers. Their iPABX can then look at the destination phone number and see which number the caller has called.

Most standalone Internet Phone devices CANNOT handle receiving Called Local Numbers (DNIS), do not choose this mode unless you are sure that your device(s) can work with it.

Mixed

Our Number Mode setting used to be different, this mode is mainly for backward compatibility purpose, it is the same as the old "Override" mode.

If the Answering Mode is set to Internet Phone, incoming calls will present the original CLI of the caller, as well as the Called Local Number (DNIS) to the Internet Phone of the callee. i.e. same as the Attachment mode above.

If the Answering Mode is set to Web PABX, incoming calls will have the CLI of the caller replaced with the Called Local Number (DNIS), before passing on to Internet Phone or Web PABX. The DNIS will not be passed on (in the DNIS field) to the Internet Phone of the callee. i.e. same as the Override mode above.

4.1.3 Directory

You MUST submit directory information for each Local Number you have subscribed to. If you see the words "Add Directory" underneath the "Answering Mode" column then you MUST click on it and enter the directory information for that Local Number.

Even if you are OVERSEAS. Even if you do NOT want your Local Number to be listed in any phone books (you can set your local number to be "Unlisted" for that purpose), you MUST still fill in the directory information for the governments of the countries your local numbers are in.

4.1.4 Unsubscribe

You can unsubsribe to any of your Local Number at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe button at the end of the row. Note the Local Number may be assigned to someone else after that. And you may not be able to subscribe to the same number again.

4.2 On-Demand Local Numbers

On-Demand Local Numbers provides a much wider coverage than Instant Local Phone Numbers. You can select from many locations.

But they are also more expensive and cannot be selected from a list. They have to be applied for individually and takes about 2 to 3 weeks.

Currently On-Demand Local Numbers do not provide incoming caller identification.

4.3 Local Number Portability

All Phone Numbers provided are NOT portable by the user to other networks. More details here: http://www.oztell.com/legal_privacy_statement.htm#numbers

Automatically Verified Destination Number

Due to a lot of requests from members, Instant Local Numbers are now inserted into the Verified Destination Number table on the Access Number page automatically. When you delete an Instant Local Number, it will also be deleted from the Verified Destination Number table as well.

If you do NOT want your Local Number to be in the Verified Destination Number table, then you can delete it from the table on the Access Number page.

Verified Destination Numbers are very powerful: http://en.net2max.com/Access_Number_Featur...ination_Numbers

They will get even more powerful in the next few weeks as we release more uses for them within the Net2MAX Platform.

This new process allows people to tap into that power automatically without needing to insert the Local Numbers themselves.
