1 Public Calling In
Dedicated Numbers are like any normal phone number in a city. The public simply ring the member's Dedicated number using any phone (landline, mobile, public phones) and they will be connected to the Net2MAX member.
If the Net2MAX Member's Dedicated Number is in a remote city, the caller can use the Access Number instead or they can still use the Dedicated Number in the remote city by dialing a long distance call.
For example, Net2MAX Member has a Dedicated Number of +61 2 9217 6000 in Sydney, Australia:
- Any caller in Sydney Australia, will dial 9217 6000 from any phone to reach the member.
- Any caller in Australia but outside Sydney, will dial 02 9217 6000.
- Any caller outside Australia, will dial +61 2 9217 6000.
2 Subscribing Dedicated Numbers
Dedicated Number features are controlled centrally by selecting "Dedicated Number" from the "Voice" menu AFTER logging into http://www.net2max.com.
If you do NOT see "Dedicated Number" in the "Voice" menu, then you have not subscribed to this function as yet - Simply migrate your account to 1CC
Once you are on the Dedicated Number page, click on "Help" on the top menu bar to display detailed online help for Dedicated Number.
3 On-Demand Dedicated Numbers
In order to speed up the coverage of Dedicated Phone Numbers around the world, a different type of dial-in phone numbers has been introduced in a larger number of locations than Instant Dedicated Numbers.
This type of dial-in phone numbers is called On-Demand Dedicated Numbers. They provide similar function as Instant Dedicated Number but at a higher cost and less functionality.
On-Demand Dedicated Numbers have to be applied for individually and you do not know what you will get. Also, you have to wait 2-3 weeks in order to get the number.
Like Instant Dedicated Numbers, people can ring your Internet Phone or Web PABX by dialling your On-Demand Dedicated Number.
There are some limitations with these numbers compared to Instant Dedicated Numbers. They do NOT support the display of Caller Line Identification (CLI) and the fax compatibility with different fax machines on those numbers are not as good as that of for Instant Dedicated Numbers.
4 Members Control Panel
On this web page, you can select Dedicated Numbers from different locations around the world and specify what will happen if someone rings those Dedicated Numbers.
You will see an extra "Fax to Email" section on this page if you have subscribed to the "Fax to Email" Function.
4.1 Instant Dedicated Numbers
To subscribe to a new Dedicated Number, click the "Down Arrow" to choose a phone number you like and then click the "Subscribe" button. The new phone number will be available for use immediately.
To unsubscribe to an existing Dedicated Number, click on "Unsubscribe" at the end of the row (corresponding to the specific Dedicated Number you wanted to unsubscribed).
4.1.1 Answering Mode
When a call comes in you can select how to handle that call. There are currently 5 selections available
1.1 Web PABX
Web PABX has A LOT of features, but basically, it can automatically transfer incoming calls to different groups of phone numbers in different order depending on who is calling and what time they call you. It has audio recording, playing, conferencing, messaging features.
1.2 Internet Phone
Internet Phone automatically transfer incoming calls to your Internet Phone Number (899...).
1.3 Fax Machine (PDF)
Fax Machine (PDF) automatically plays a fax tone and receives faxes on behalf of you. The fax is then sent to the email address you specified in PDF format.
1.4 Fax Machine (TIFF)
Fax Machine (TIFF) automatically plays a fax tone and receives faxes on behalf of you. The fax is then sent to the email address you specified in TIFF format.
1.5 Fax PABX
This answering mode is Web PABX and Fax Machine (PDF) in one, so a single instant Dedicated number can be used as a voice number as well as a fax number.
After you have selected one of the 5 answering modes, you have to click on the corresponding "Change Modes" button to activate the new answering mode.
4.1.2 Number Mode
The "Number Mode" option allows you to override the incoming "origination" phone numbers with the "destination" phone numbers, or preserve the "origination" number, but "attach" the "destination" number.
To see the Caller Line Display (CLI) on a PSTN or mobile network, you MUST call out with "Premium Rate" from Web PABX (by using the 012 prefix or from the Web Dialer). To see the CLI on an Australian mobile network, you can also use the "Default Rate".
After you have selected the "Number Mode", you have to click on the corresponding "Change Modes" button to activate it.
The "Number Mode" option is only valid for Answering Mode "Web PABX", "Fax PABX" and "Internet Phone". There are 4 modes available
Normal
This is the default mode. With this mode, incoming calls will present the original Caller Line Display (CLI) of the caller, and the Called Dedicated Number (DNIS) will not be passed on to the Internet Phone of the callee.
e.g. Caller 61410311070 (original CLI), calls 61290112121 (DNIS), callee will see the CLI as 61410311070
Override
With this mode, incoming calls will have the CLI of the caller replaced with the Called Dedicated Number (DNIS), before passing on to Internet Phone or Web PABX. The DNIS will not be passed on (in the DNIS field) to the Internet Phone of the callee.
e.g. Caller 61410311070 (original CLI), calls 61290112121 (DNIS), callee will see the CLI as 61290112121
This is useful for people who receive calls on their mobile phone or phones that can display Caller ID. They can see from their phones which Dedicated Number the caller has called.
If you choose this mode, the Voice Greeting Mapping in Web PABX can only map the Caller Phone number with your Dedicated Numbers, since the original CLIs are replaced.
Attachment
With this mode, incoming calls will present the original CLI of the caller, as well as the Called Dedicated Number (DNIS) to the Internet Phone of the callee.
e.g. Caller 61410311070 (original CLI), calls 61290112121 (DNIS), callee will see the CLI as 61410311070, and the DNIS as 61290112121.
This mode is useful for businesses with internet phone equipment (iPABX) and a lot of different Dedicated Numbers. Their iPABX can then look at the destination phone number and see which number the caller has called.
Most standalone Internet Phone devices CANNOT handle receiving Called Dedicated Numbers (DNIS), do not choose this mode unless you are sure that your device(s) can work with it.
Mixed
Our Number Mode setting used to be different, this mode is mainly for backward compatibility purpose, it is the same as the old "Override" mode.
If the Answering Mode is set to Internet Phone, incoming calls will present the original CLI of the caller, as well as the Called Dedicated Number (DNIS) to the Internet Phone of the callee. i.e. same as the Attachment mode above.
If the Answering Mode is set to Web PABX, incoming calls will have the CLI of the caller replaced with the Called Dedicated Number (DNIS), before passing on to Internet Phone or Web PABX. The DNIS will not be passed on (in the DNIS field) to the Internet Phone of the callee. i.e. same as the Override mode above.
4.1.3 Address
You MUST submit directory information for each Dedicated Number you have subscribed to. If you see the words "Add Address" underneath the "Answering Mode" column then you MUST click on it and enter the address information associated with that Dedicated Number.
Even if you are OVERSEAS. Even if you do NOT want your Dedicated Number to be listed in any phone books (you can set your Dedicated number to be "Unlisted" for that purpose), you MUST still fill in the address information for the governments of the countries your Dedicated Numbers are in.
4.1.4 Unsubscribe
You can unsubscribe to any of your Dedicated Number at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe button at the end of the row. Note the Dedicated Number may be assigned to someone else after that. And you may not be able to subscribe to the same number again.
4.2 On-Demand Dedicated Numbers
On-Demand Dedicated Numbers provides a much wider coverage than Instant Dedicated Phone Numbers. You can select from many locations.
But they are also more expensive and cannot be selected from a list. They have to be applied for individually and takes about 2 to 3 weeks.
Currently On-Demand Dedicated Numbers do not provide incoming caller identification.
4.2.1 Automatically Verified Destination Number
Due to a lot of requests from members, Instant Dedicated Numbers are now inserted into the Verified Destination Number table on the Access Number page automatically. When you delete an Instant Dedicated Number, it will also be deleted from the Verified Destination Number table as well.
If you do NOT want your Dedicated Number to be in the Verified Destination Number table, then you can delete it from the table on the Access Number page.
Verified Destination Numbers are very powerful: http://en.net2max.com/Access_Number_Featur...ination_Numbers
They will get even more powerful in the next few weeks as we release more uses for them within the Net2MAX Platform.
This new process allows people to tap into that power automatically without needing to insert the Dedicated Numbers themselves.
5 Dedicated Number Portability
All Access Numbers (shared or dedicated) belongs to their respective community operators and NOT to the members of the community. If a community operator (Operator A) sources its Access Numbers from another community operator (Operator B) then Operator A's rights are the same as the members of the Operator B - that is Operator A does NOT own the Access Numbers - Operator B does.
Dedicated Access Numbers that are requested by, assigned to or used by the members of a community are not portable to other communities or networks. That is they cannot "take the numbers with them" when their relationship with a Community Operator is terminated. This is because the member does NOT own the Phone Numbers he or she is assigned, picked or specified. These phone numbers are not part of any carriage services, that is they belong to a different web based answering service that is NOT part of any phone card, pre-selection, PSTN, ISDN, VoIP services.
Dedicated Phone Numbers that members use are actually what the telecom industry called Direct In Dial (DID) numbers belonging to the respective Community Operator. They are NOT like normal phone numbers that members can get from a telephone carrier. Just like ex-employees of a company cannot take their personal DID numbers away from the company they worked for, a hotel guest cannot transfer the hotel room DID phone number away from the hotel, a phone card user cannot port the phone number they dial to make calls away from the phone card service provider, community members cannot take away DID numbers when they terminate their relationship with the community operator.
The Dedicated Phone Numbers belong to the community operator at all times and all calls to those phone numbers will be answered by the community operator's equipment and never the member's own equipment. The Phone Numbers are paid for by the community operator, they terminate at community operator's equipment on community operator's sites. When the members give out Dedicated Phone Numbers, they are giving out the community operator's Phone Numbers for people to call the community operator and NOT to call the member.
Net2MAX functions as a bureau providing answering service and NOT as a communication carrier providing phone numbers. The phone numbers do NOT provide a carriage service to the customer, they are used to call the community operator only, so the community operator can handle the calls (like a secretarial service). After receiving a call on a certain Dedicated Phone Number, the community operator may choose to perform any actions it likes (including but not limited to playing a voice message or reading out an email or accessing a database or transferring a call or perform non-voice services like receive a fax). When members give out a Dedicated Phone Number they should make known to the party receiving the Dedicated Phone Number that they are using the community operator as a service bureau and it is the community operator's Phone Number and not the member's.
If members would like to give out their own phone numbers, they can forward calls from their phone numbers (local numbers, mobile numbers, VoIP numbers etc.) to Dedicated Phone Numbers in order to receive the same answering service available to Dedicated Phone Numbers.
The user pays the community operator for the process of connecting an Dedicated Phone Number with relevant online services. The user does NOT pay for the Dedicated Phone Number itself in anyway. The community operator has the sole right in the use of the Phone Number and can assign the Phone Number to anyone or anything it chooses.
