1 Introduction

Any one worldwide with the will can become a telco in minutes ... independent of the resources they have.

Creating millions of telcos that are run by local communities ... that's the way Net2MAX aims to close the digital divide!

2 Small Town Girl Example

See how Ida (a 16 year old girl) living in Bega (a very small town in Australia) can set up a telco for the teenagers in Bega. Her telco's name will be called "STG" which stands for "Small Town Girl" and, as we will see, rivals ANY telco in Australia (big or small).

For the first time in history a teenage girl in a small town has access to resources that were only available to the biggest telcos. Within a few minutes of deciding to start her own telco, she has STG up and running and has her first customer - her father.

2.1 Before Start Up

Ida
She does NOT have a business plan but

  1. She knows that Net2MAX's rapid prototyping allows her to learn as she goes - without risk and without detailed planning
  2. Her father has given her a mobile phone to use (phone number +61 410 534 808)
  3. She can invest up to $30 of her savings into STG
  4. she believes that she understands teenagers around Bega (her target market) better that any established telcos
  5. It is kinda cool to be a telco

Ida's Father
Ida spoke to her father who gave the "go ahead" with the following conditions:

  1. the feature set she is offering to her customers MUST NOT take up more than 3 hours of her time a week (so not to interfere with her studies).
  2. the feature set she is offering to her customers MUST NOT be more than that of One Click Contact so she can rely on the support of the Net2MAX Centre and other Net2MAX Members.
  3. the price she charges must be the SAME or HIGHER than that of the Net2MAX Centre, so in case she decided to shut down TFT, she customers will be transparently supported by the Net2MAX Centre with no feature lost and at same or lower prices.
  4. she MUST NOT use the Community Lock-In feature, so her customers can move freely to other Communities if they like.
  5. she MUST NOT use the Member Registration Sharing feature, so she is not responsible for her customers' actions because they use their own phone numbers for registration.

2.2 During Start Up

Step 1: Become a Net2MAX Member

Ida registers her mobile phone with Net2MAX to experience the FREE 1CC Account.

  1. Ida dials into the Access Phone Number in her town +61 2 6400 7000 with her mobile phone (number +61 410 534 808).
  2. She enters 1 as the destination number to register it with Net2MAX.
  3. After Net2MAX checked that the mobile number has not been registered before, it reads out her Password.

Step 2: Test out Net2MAX in Local Area

Ida knows that the Net2MAX fixed line connection works in Bega since she dialled into the local Access Number to register her mobile. She now needs to test out BOTH the Internet and Mobile connections.

  1. Ida uses a computer to go to web address http://webphone.net2max.com/61410534808
  2. Her mobile phone +61 410 534 808 rings
  3. She answers her mobile and say a few words
  4. She can hear herself through the speaker on the computer clearly
  5. If the above does NOT work she can get help from http://forum.net2max.com

Step 3: Make Payment

Only Monthly 1CC Account can start Net2MAX Communities, so Ida makes a payment via the Bega Post Office (since she is too young to have a credit card).

  1. Ida logs into http://net2max.com with her mobile number 61410534808 and the given password. Then she goes to the Payment section to request an Australia Post payment card to be sent to her.
  2. She receives the payment card and deposits $30 cash into her 61410534808 account at the local Bega Post Office using the payment card.

Step 4: Become a Net2MAX Communtiy

Ida logs into http://net2max.com site with her mobile number 61410534808.
